Mental Health

Designed to help patients understand the signs, symptoms and effects of depression, along with other mental health issues.

Depression is a debilitating illness that affect families and careers.

It is characterized by profound feelings of:

  • Sadness
  • Hopelessness
  • Guilt
  • Irritability
  • Fatigue
  • Difficulty concentrating or making decisions
  • Appetite changes
  • Sleep changes
  • Aches and pains
  • Suicidal thoughts

Research suggests that in a given year, approximately 8% of Americans — an estimated 17 million adults — meet the American Psychiatric Association’s criteria for depression.

Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, social, and spiritual well being. It affects how we think, feel and act as we cope with life. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. Mental health is important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood.

Mental illnesses are serious disorders which can affect your thinking, mood, and behavior. There are many causes of mental health disorders. Your genetics and family history may play a role;  biological factors can also be part of the cause along with chronic medical conditions.  If a loved one suffers with a mental health disorder you may be affected by it, as well. Your life experiences, such as stress, history of abuse, or poverty can also worsen mental health issues.

CAHN has developed a program to help meet the needs of the community with their mental health issues and provide hope. We provide individual, couples and group therapy to help address these issues.

Two Licensed Clinical Social Workers who provide therapeutic services along with a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner who provides psychiatric medication management currently staff the Mental Health Program.
