About Me
Dr. Tate is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in the state of Virginia. She received her undergraduate degree from Iowa State University in Psychology and Sociology. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in Counseling Psychology. She has worked with adolescents and adults in outpatient, inpatient psychiatric hospital settings, and correctional settings. Her diverse training experiences have provided her the opportunity to work with individuals of various ages, backgrounds, and presenting challenges. Dr. Tate is trained as a generalist, however, has particular interests and strengths working with personality dysfunction, career/vocational counseling, life transitions, grief, substance use addictions, and BIPOC/ LGBTQ+ populations. Dr. Tate identifies as an integrationist who draws primarily from cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, solution focused, strength based, multicultural-feminist, and interpersonal frameworks, while also tailoring the approach to each client to best suit their needs. In her spare time, Dr. Tate enjoys spending time with her partner and 2 Akita's, traveling, and trying new restaurants in Richmond.
